CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A 61-year-old Terrebonne man is walking on foot across Oregon to push higher speed limits on Oregon highways. The Gazette-Times reports that Ted Carlin began his trek May 3 by stepping into the Pacific Ocean at Newport. He plans to finish at the Snake River in Ontario on June 11. He'll cover about 456 miles walking about 15 miles per day. He reached Lebanon Saturday. His wife Phyllis is driving a support car and carries a bike along so she can periodically pedal alongside him. Carlin says he's frustrated with the 55 miles per hour limit on state highways.
